Why Is Cacao on the Superfoods List?

There are many of us who really love chocolate. Its sweet taste is definitely wonderful and enjoyable, and there are many of us who have really gotten excited about it on a regular basis. That being said, did you know that cacao (and in turn, dark chocolate in general) is actually a superfood? Why are these things considered to be superfoods? Let’s take a look as to why cacao is on the superfoods list.

Cacao is filled with antioxidants. As with many options on the superfoods list, cacao is actually full of antioxidants. Not only is that great for your immune system, but it will also help your skin and your hair to be much healthier than it is currently. That extra boost of antioxidants (which is more than 40 times that of blueberries) is a great way for you to take care of your health and keep your body going as best as it can.

Cacao is filled with calcium. Calcium is incredibly important when it comes to having healthy teeth and bones. Your oral health is actually connected to the health concerns that you may have with the rest of your body and, if you don’t get enough calcium, you’re more likely to have cavities and other similar problems. This could also lead to heart disease and other problems that have been connected with poor oral health. It also prevents issues like osteoporosis and other bone conditions that may arise as you grow older as well.

More iron than any other plant-based source. Many people think of red meat when they start adding extra iron to their diet. But, if you are a vegetarian, you may have some issues getting the iron that you need to maintain your energy and whatever else that you may be trying to do or accomplish.
